In an unassuming village in the town of Kuching in East Malaysia, a group of truth seekers gather together and form a community for mutual support in the learning and practicing of Dhamma. Among them are some Malaysians, Singaporeans, Mainland Chinese, Taiwanese, and American. Although they come from different countries, background, and culture, they share a common goal – to seek self-purification.In order to realise this supreme vision, they dedicate all their time, energy, and life to the Triple Gems – the Buddha, Dhamma, and Saṅgha. They have grown into a Saṅgha of substantial size. The Saṅgha is a breath of fresh air in this small, humble town of Xin San Tu.
Meditation practice is the path taken by all the Buddhas and Ariyas in their quest to realise the truth and to verify the law of nature.
Through meditation practice, heavenly and human beings get to unleash and realize the unlimited potential of their mind power, developing strong and powerful ability to observe and understand the truth about the cycle of rebirth. With these insights, one gets to conquer all doubts and sufferings, sees the light of Dhamma, benefits oneself. When one who has seen the Dhamma propagates the teachings of the Buddha, he also helps others realise this self-purification path that eventually leads to the cessation of all suffering.
In 2008, under the leadership of the Saṅgha of Malaysia Dhamma Society (formerly known as Kuching Bhagavan Buddhist Society), the Tusita Hermitage of Sin San Tu was established to provide monks and male practitioners a venue for meditation practice. Since then, the hermitage has organanised a series of activities, including mediation practice, chanting, live animal release, Dhamma classes, Children Dhamma classes, and novitiate programs.
